Nepal and Uganda

Nepal – Krishna and his brother Kumar – revisit a village decimated by the earth quake – educational supplies for the school including 8 white boards, educational expendables for the children and more warm clothing.
Uganda : David Tyler School gets a face lift and their urgently needed new classroom.

India and The Gambia

1. India – Sujata and team take young Henny Penny Library Readers on an educational field trip to International Book Fair and workshops.
2. The Gambia : Text books purchased for a school which is progressing favourably thanks to the dedicated principal and teachers.

January 2 - 2016

January Part 2
A lovely start to the year showing much potential for our projects.
Augers well for the rest of the year.

1. Dr. Federico Mayor sends his best wishes for 2016.
2. Uganda – primary school now has an enrolment of 62 – new classroom needed – construction starts.
3. The Gambia – wonderful progress at Abba International School.
4. The Gambia – school furniture purchased for Simon’s school
5. India – well done Sujata and team and thank you United Benetton.

A Ray of Hope, UNESCO Youth Ambassador for the Culture of Peace

A Ray of Hope is not a charity and we try as far as possible never to assist in currency form, but rather prefer to investigate what people, especially children, need throughout the world and to deliver that item directly into their hands. This avoids many of the pitfalls that exist in the world of giving.
We believe that diversity of culture is enrichment and actively look for and promote friendships ..... if we can assist our friends we do.We have little difficulty in obtaining certain educational supplies and to date have distributed over $9 million worth. Some of the smaller items, although easily purchased, we feel it is to the benefit of everyone that those who wish can assist us and in doing so know that they have helped directly.
No member of A Ray of Hope receives financial gain of any kind but the true satisfaction of knowing that, at very least, we are attempting to make a difference.

We have had a request to inform readers how they can become involved in a Ray of Hope. Anyone who believes cultural diversity is enrichment, enjoys making friends and assisting when one can is welcome to contribute to our work. There is rarely a need to ask for financial support except possibly within the bounds of individual projects. Feel free to contact me on don@unesco.co.uk.
