Nigeria - library in Emma School.

Aghalee Collection Boxes – A Ray of Hope UNESCO . On this emptying of some of the boxes the money went to paying in entirety for a much needed small library in Emma School, Nigeria - - just a start but so necessitous. Every step is an advancement on the children’s education. The next counting of the money will be split between two projects – to attempt to bring some “Christmas Cheer” to children in a disabled community in Uganda and disadvantaged children in Nigeria – our sincere thanks to all in the village who generously support our boxes.

A Ray of Hope is not a charity and we try as far as possible never to assist in currency form, but rather prefer to investigate what people, especially children, need throughout the world and to deliver that item directly into their hands. This avoids many of the pitfalls that exist in the world of giving.
We believe that diversity of culture is enrichment and actively look for and promote friendships ..... if we can assist our friends we do.We have little difficulty in obtaining certain educational supplies and to date have distributed over $9 million worth. Some of the smaller items, although easily purchased, we feel it is to the benefit of everyone that those who wish can assist us and in doing so know that they have helped directly.
No member of A Ray of Hope receives financial gain of any kind but the true satisfaction of knowing that, at very least, we are attempting to make a difference.

We have had a request to inform readers how they can become involved in a Ray of Hope. Anyone who believes cultural diversity is enrichment, enjoys making friends and assisting when one can is welcome to contribute to our work. There is rarely a need to ask for financial support except possibly within the bounds of individual projects. Feel free to contact me on don@unesco.co.uk.
